And as I rise above the treeline and the clouds, I look down hear the sound of the things you said today. Fearlessly the idiot faced the crowd, smiling--merciless, the magistrate turns 'round, frowning--and who's the fool who wears the crown? )

To aid in showing the Dark Lord of Inflated Self-Opinion that I, like so many, am not going to just sit back and let him take the magical community hostage: Acceptance of your brand of "peace" will result in nothing but an even darker, more false existance for our world as a whole, Voldemort, something that will take away anything resembling democracy and the ability to actually live in repose. I don't believe for one iota that you give a shit about anything (or anyone) except furthering your own convoluted ideals. I refuse to be told how to live. I refuse to be scared into shutting up and giving in. I refuse to act as though there is anything reasonable in what you've proposed; in your saying you'll save the world from the very evils you yourself set upon it. No, bugger that.

I value my freedom, and I intend to fight for it.

Two more months. Two more months and we're going to have a helpless little thing between us who's going to rely on us for everything. No matter how often it gets laid out for you, you know, the all-encompassing existence of babies and kids, I mean... it's not reality until you see your wife's belly grow and grow and fill the house with nappies and bottles and soothers and onesies and just realize that holy shit, we're going to be parents. I'm going to be somebody's father. So much as I'm sure that there are people out there--cough Snape cough--who think I should've signed up for clown college instead of domesticity, I... well it's not the having the kid that's terrifying so much as wondering if I'm going to be able to pass off all the important things I've learned, all the good, moral things that I want my kid to know. I want him or her to be a better person when they're my age than I am. I don't want Elvendork to have to haul someone away from a hungry werewolf in order to comprehend their own shortcomings, I guess is what I mean to say.

What is your opinion on chocolate chip waffles?

Fabian hit me up to ask if we'd be interested in providing backup for him and Gideon to carry out a setup targeting DEs; they're planning on baiting a trap at the Three Broomsticks by dropping hints in the right places. They talked to Podmore about it.

I'm in. The rest of you up for it?

Okay, so we've (Remus, Sirius, Peter & I, with some pointers from the Lovely Lily) got a sort of base charm building off of Emmeline's suggested of the Protean Charm that we've been applying to palm size chunks of mirror. Still needs some tweaking, but the end result will make it so that you can look into it and say the name of the person you want to talk to, and their mirror will buzz or get warm or sing or whatever you want it to do, and you'll be able to talk to one another through it. The downside (as it stands) is that we haven't quite figured out a way to make it so you can talk to multiple people at a time. We're going to try a few more modifications, but in the meantime:

If you have a compact or cigarette case, or pocket watch (just something you carry on your person at all times that a palm size mirror will fit into) please send it our way. Once we work out the kinks, we'll get everything fitted in, and send it back your way.

Something was bugging me about the idea of these communication things, and then like a smack in the face I realized what it was: Two-way mirrors. I found my half, Sirius, do you still have yours? I mean, my Dad gave those things to me eons ago and I have no idea if they were commercial at one point, but I'm going to do a little finagling with some of Lily's old compact ones. Emmeline suggested a Protean Charm and I'm thinking that if we can just get more of these little trinket mirrors then apply the Protean Charm to them, then voila! I mean, it'll have to be a modified substantially and pretty strong and semi-if-not-fully permanent to link... oh, nearly thirty of them together, but it's definitely not unfeasible, not by a long shot.

Remus Lupin, I wrote you a birthday haiku, behold:

twenty years ago
you were a screaming baby
with duckie onesies

now you are all grown
with your still pinch-able cheeks
both arse and face-wise

it is your birthday
lets run amok Brazilian-style
I've packed my sarong

the night is still young
Sirius and I can throw some cake
(probably at you)

Sirius wants to go wreck a car.

We'll be safe, but I'll be back late.

Fidelius Charm

  • Fidelius is derived from the Latin word fidelis, which means loyalty; the incantation is Fideli Incantatem.

  • Supremely complex charm that, essentially, involves hiding information in a particular person (specifically, at least according the text I read today, their soul), known as the "Secret-Keeper." Once the charm is cast and the secret hidden, no one is going to know anything about it unless the secret is revealed to them by the Secret-Keeper. Even then, they have NO way of revealing them secret themselves, so. Say Moony is my Secret-Keeper, and we cast the charm so that he's keeping the secret that Cat's name is actually Mittens. He could tell everyone and their mum that Cat's name is actually Mittens, BUT if he tells Padfoot, and Padfoot tries to tell Wormtail, he won't be able to. Geddit?

  • The secret can be passed by speaking or writing the applicable information down.

  • The information is hidden for an indefinite period of time; if a Secret-Keeper dies, those who have been told already become Secret-Keepers in turn, making it more and more vulnerable. If the Secret-Keeper dies and hasn't told anyone, the secret dies with them.

  • Someone who hasn't been told the secret could be staring right at something that's been hidden and not know it's there. So say you hide the toilet in the loo, and someone who doesn't know you did it goes in there, the toilet is still there but they can't see it.

Between all these philosophical ruminations over love and life, and people getting their knickers in a twist over (so far as I can tell) nothing except "oh no who's going to bring canapes to our next tea party!", I thought I'd take the time to celebrate the fact that my wife is alive, and that I'm alive (oh and by the way death eating scum of England, kindly kiss my PASTY-WHITE BEHIND), and give you all a big burst of VALENTINE'S CHEER in the meantime, with some OBNOXIOUS SPARKLES:
Happy Valentine's Day!

[Friends]

Lily's stable. She's going to be okay, and the baby's going to be okay, and I'm okay. I'm really fucking pissed off, obviously, but yeah. She won't be able to take any visitors until tomorrow-ish, so, if you want to come down to see her that'll be fine, just not until then.

Thanks for your thoughts, and prayers, guys. It means a lot.

[Order]

so Lily is stable and she's going to be okay, and the baby's going to be okay, and I'm okay. I'm wanting to thrash some fucking Death Eaters, obviously, but yeah.

Thanks for your thoughts, and prayers, and everything. Clearly someone was listening.

[Severus Snape]

Remus said he talked to you. So. She's stable and she's going to be fine, and if you want to come down to the hospital and see her tomorrow, when she's allowed visitors... I'm okay with that.

[Remus & Sirius]

Thank you Moony, Padfoot. Just. Thank you.

HI.

So. Since Lily's birthday was on one of the nights of the full moon this year, it wasn't quite as epic as I had wanted it to be so I've taken it upon myself to throw her a Belated Birthday Surprise Party this Saturday night at our place, and YOU ARE ALL INVITED. Mel is going to be keeping her occupied in the afternoon, so if you can make it, show up around five so as you can be properly stowed in the orifices of my house.

That sounded dirtier than I intended it to.

Moony, mate, wish we hadn't had to leave last night, but Ottery St Catchpole was just buggered beyond belief. Hopefully it won't come to it on the next full, but this one doesn't exactly bode well. How's the stuff with Bones going, so far?

So Lily's birthday kind of got shat on, and I'm thinking I want to make it up to her even if I wasn't the one whipping up a shitstorm in Tinworth. I was talking to Mel and we're thinking a surprise party on Saturday. She's going to take Lils shopping for the afternoon. Petey, think we could get a chocolate cake from you? Sirius, Remus, if you're in for it, I am putting you in charge of appetizers.

Nothing made of mud, Padfoot.
